Carol’s “Lent”

It’s not about being skinny; it’s about being healthy. Look at what you are eating. Every year I do “Lent.” I put it in quotes because I am not Christian and it has little to do with religion. I used to have lunch with two Catholics and as Lent approached they talked about what they were giving up I decided it was impressive to make a decision to not do something for that length of time. So with some variations every year I give up sugar and bread for that time. I often don’t eat a lot of white sugar and flour but during that time NONE. I love doing it! My friends are all amused by Carol’s Lent but I feel great and sometimes do it again at other times. It’s like a cleanse!!!

Why Do Women Settle??

Women often describe their unhappiness in their relationship,  then say “but he has a good heart.” What exactly does that mean?? If he isn’t nice to you (or the children), you never spend time together, and you don’t feel cherished or respected, then what does having a good heart mean? He may be nice to co-workers and strangers but you are the most important person who should be treated the best!!

Feeling blue??

There is a difference between feeling blue or down in the dumps and having clinical depression. If you are having trouble  sleeeping or wanting to sleep all the time, over (or under ) eating, crying more than usual you may want to talk to someone about the symptoms.

Everyone  has those days once in a while but if you are having them everyday then it’s time to talk.

Eat Less, Dance More!

Could it be that simple? Simple not really but think about it. If you eat less food and you dance, or swim or exercise more, something good is bound to happen. Physical activity releases endorphins in the brain and the results are that you feel better, physically, spiritually and emotionally (and yes you may lose some weight too!!). Who doesn’t want to feel better? The problem is that it sometimes takes some work so why not do something fun, that you enjoy, then you don’t feel like you are working.  Dancing is a fun activity that anybody can learn but if that doesn’t work for you how about biking, or hiking or just plain walking?
